What is HIV Testing?
What is HIV testing?
- HIV testing is a blood test carried out to find out if you have contracted HIV.
- The test looks for HIV antibodies, not the actual virus.
- Antibodies are made in your blood when your body is exposed to an infection.
What is an instant HIV Test?
Instant HIV tests from either a fingerprick or saliva give results within minutes.
They can be used in settings such as community based organisations where venepuncture (taking blood from a vein) may not be possible. All 'reactive' results must be confirmed by a venous blood test.
What is an INSTI test?
The INSTI test is a fingerprick blood test which is highly accurate. Overall accuracy for the test is 99.96.
The INSTI test has undergone extensive clinical trials that have been shown to demonstrate its accuracy in direct comparison to laboratory-based methods.
